James Joseph Gandolfini, Jr was the Godfather of Television. The American actor was highly acclaimed for his role as Tony Soprano in the big time hit HBO series The Sopranos. He played the lead role in the series and his character engulfed as the Boss of a New Jersey Mafia gang who tried hard to balance his personal and professional life. The series debuted in the year 1999 and ended in 2007 entailing six seasons of high end drama.
James Gandolfini was basically of Italian origin; however he was born and brought up in Westwood, New Jersey. Both his parents were born and raised in Italy. Gandolfini’s mother Santa was a high school lunch lady and father James Joseph Gandolfini Sr was a mason and a school custodian. In 2007, Gandolfini also produced a documentary called Alive Day: Home from Iraq for HBO. This documentary engulfed the lives of Iraq war veterans and the emotional turmoil faced by their families.

Gandolfini was on a brief vacation in Rome when he died of a heart attack in his hotel bathroom on 19th June, 2013. Gandolfini’s 13 year old son found him on the bathroom floor in Rome, Italy.
